2. Enquete communautaire Gaia DR4 pour les exoplanetes

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We are exploring the development of a community-driven coordination effort for exoplanet follow-up and related science in preparation for Gaia DR4. To understand the needs and preferences of the wider community, we're conducting a survey.

This survey is intended to gather feedback from the broader community on potential goals, organizational structures, infrastructure needs, and participation interest.

Our goal is to understand what types of coordination and support would be most useful to the community while keeping the effort lightweight, collaborative, and scientifically productive.

There are 3 sections of this survey: (1) community interest and participation, (2) organizational structure and subgroups, and (3) infrastructure, communication, and logistics. In section 3, we also solicit feedback on timing for a virtual half-day kickoff event for this effort.

We are also interested in feedback from those who are not interested in participating in such a community effort. In this case, the form will be very short and only consist of section 1.

Please complete this survey by June 24th.

Estimated completion time: 5–10 minutes.

3. Rappel : Conférence ELT-France 2027

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We recall that registration and abstract submission are now open for the

_ELT-France 2027_ conference, which will be held in Lyon (ENS) from

January 26 to 28, 2027. This meeting aims to bring together the French

community interested in exploiting the capabilities of the ELT and its

instruments, and to strengthen the structuring of the community around

the major scientific themes that will be advanced by this facility.

This meeting is open to all members of the community who may be

interested in using this instrumental suite. Researchers who are not

part of any consortium are particularly encouraged to participate, as

are postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, who will be the future

users of this telescope. All presentations and discussions will be held

in English.

The programme will be organised around the key astrophysical themes of

interest to our community, corresponding to the various “Actions

Thématiques” (AT) of PN ASTRO. Each session will include one to three

invited talks reviewing the expected contributions of the ELT to the

relevant themes, followed by contributed presentations selected from

submitted abstracts, with the aim of fostering discussion and sharing

new ideas. The current deadline for abstract submission is Monday June

29, 2026.

4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Exoplanet Detection and Characterization (MPIA Heidelberg) - Deadline: 30 juin

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear colleagues,

The ExoWorlds Imaging Group at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg is recruiting a fully funded PhD candidate to conduct research in exoplanet detection and characterization, with a flexible start date from September 2026.

The project is declined into two strategic lines of research:

1/ The analysis of infrared spectra from the JWST instruments NIRSpec and MIRI of young planetary-mass companions with known infrared excess. This analysis will combine data from granted observing programs and archival observations

2/ The study of the detection and characterization capabilities of the upcoming spectro-imager mode of METIS at the ELT for exoplanets

More information and application details are available here:

https://www.mpia.de/6361662/joinus

Deadline: June 30th 2026.

Best regards,

Gael Chauvin
